Def Leppard
Returning for their first show in New Zealand in 16 years, Def Leppard's sold-out show at Vector Arena was a wild roll down memory lane for hard-core fans of the band.
While the concert was fully seated, the majority of the audience spent the night on their feet, singing lyrics and enjoying the blazing light show, the likes of which would never have been possible 16 years ago.
With an ultra-widescreen LED screen backing the stage, matched by two of Mirage's 20x15ft screens and HD-SDI fed Barco 20,000 Ansi Lumnen projectors, the visuals matched the high-impact lighting, giving fans brilliant close-up images and playback of the band in true-life colour.
Projectionist, Shane Watson, Mirage's senior vision technician, was employed to run a 7 camera PPU, mixed to the LED and projection screens through Vista Sypder, and our DFS700 vision mixer.
To allow us to use Def Leppard's own touring drum cameras and our 4 camera system, which combined both NTSC and PAL resolutions, Folsom Image Pros were used to convert the signals for the show. Playback was triggered through two Doremi Playback systems.
